President Donald Trump says the United States has reached what he describes as the largest oil deal in world history with Venezuela.
Trump says the agreement would give American interests majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s proven oil reserves, with no cost to U.S. taxpayers. The president says the historic arrangement could more than double America’s oil reserves, increase domestic supply, and drive gasoline prices lower for years to come.
The announcement comes as Washington seeks to deepen its relationship with Venezuela, with Trump crediting Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodríguez, and private-sector partners for securing the deal.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is calling the newly announced U.S.-Venezuela oil agreement a “huge win” for both American and Venezuelan people, saying the deal could have major consequences for energy prices, investment, and Venezuela’s economic future.
Rubio says the agreement advances President Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda by securing access to what he describes as stable, low-cost oil reserves in the Western Hemisphere while helping bring down gas prices for Americans.
But the deal isn’t just about energy. Rubio says nearly $100 billion in private investment will flow into Venezuela, supporting thousands of high-paying jobs and helping rebuild the country’s economy.
This deal is a huge win for both the American and Venezuelan people.
It demonstrates how President Trump’s bold foreign policy is driving America First wins: securing stable reserves and low-cost oil in our Hemisphere and lowering gas prices here at home.
