Donald Trump just nominated Brett Matsumoto to be the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Trump said, “For many years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, under WEAK and STUPID people, has been FAILING American Businesses, Policymakers, and Families by releasing VERY inaccurate numbers. That is why I FIRED the former Commissioner, and am pleased to nominate the very talented Brett Matsumoto as the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.”

Truth Social:

For many years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, under WEAK and STUPID people, has been FAILING American Businesses, Policymakers, and Families by releasing VERY inaccurate numbers. That is why I FIRED the former Commissioner, and am pleased to nominate the very talented Brett Matsumoto as the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Brett was a Supervisory Research Economist for the BLS, but is now serving as a Senior Economist on the Trump Council of Economic Advisers, like he did in my First Term. I am confident that Brett has the expertise to QUICKLY fix the long history of issues at the BLS on behalf of the American People. Brett Matsumoto is a Brilliant, Reputable, and Trusted Economist who will restore GREATNESS to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Congratulations Brett!

Brett has been an economist for the BLS since 2015.

Seeking Alpha reported:

The BLS has lacked permanent leadership since August, when Trump ousted commissioner Erika McEntarfer following the release of sharply negative revisions to employment figures. E.J. Antoni, chief economist at the Heritage Foundation and a longtime critic of the jobs data agency, had been considered for BLS chief as part of a broader search under the Trump administration.

Matsumoto has been a BLS economist since 2015 and had no prior political experience before spending much of the past year on assignment at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, the WSJ reported.
